Wimbley Waters Jr. Obituary

Mr. Wimbley Waters entered into eternal rest on June 4, 2018. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 9, 2018 at 11:00AM at the Greater 2nd Mount Olive Baptist Church 103 Dewey Street Albany, GA 31705 Rev. Lorenzo L. Heard, Pastor. Remains will lie instate from 10:00AM until the hour of service.  Interment Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church 143 Mount Pleasant Road Leesburg, GA 31763.

Wimbley Waters, Jr. was born October 3, 1943 to the late Wimbley and Georgia Mae Waters in Leesburg, GA.  He went to school to specialize in auto mechanics and printing.   He moved to Daytona Beach, Fl. where he met and married Andrea Hannans, who preceded him in death.  They were married for 50 years and had 5 daughters.

He accepted Christ at an early age.  He was a devoted Christian, deacon and trustee at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Daytona Beach.  He later attended Antioch Baptist Church in Lithonia, GA

He worked as a journey man at the Daytona Beach News Journal as a lead composer in the composing room and a typesetter.  He was the president of the Typographical Union for many years until his retirement in the mid-nineties.  He was with the AFLCIO and negotiated contracts on a national level including the unions for Volusia County Schools and various other institutions in Volusia County. He and his wife relocated to Atlanta, GA where he worked at the Atlanta Journal and Constitution for several years and did consulting work for the Typographical Union.

He leaves to cherish his memories five daughters, Nina (Jeff) Killins, Princey (Andre) Henderson, Tia (Edward) Brown, Dana (Darryl) Mason, Elissa Waters Thomas; thirteen siblings, Dorothy Waters Milton, William (Barbara) Waters, Gloria J. Waters, James (Judy) Waters, Henry Waters (deceased), Arlene Waters, Loretta (Jimmy) Hooks, Elijah (Lynn) Waters, Isaiah (Shawn) Waters, Pommie (Thonda) Taylor, Alfreda Bashir, Anthony (Katrena) Waters, Lottie (Rahmel) Watson; fifteen grandchildren whom he truly adored; Jeverney (Barry) Brown, Christopher Kennedy, Carla Killins, Leah (Joey) Thompson, Jeffrey Killins, Aaron Henderson, Xavier Henderson,  Brittany (Johnel) Woods, Darryl Mason, Myles Mason, Faith Thomas, Emanuel Brown, Sydni Mason, Matthew Brown, Andrew Thomas; three great-grandchildren, Haylee Rae Henderson, Dilauni Mason, and Veronica Woods; one aunt, Velma Tuff; and a host of other relatives friends and loved ones which include his God-children Dexter Roberts,  Janiece Wiley, and  D’Wayne Taylor, Jr.
