Ms. Ruth P. Lenard entered into eternal rest on Sunday April 18, 2021. Ruth Parker Lenard was born June 30, 1944 on a sharecroppers farm to parents, Clem Parker and Augusta Huggins in Inverness, Mississippi. The family later relocated to Clarksdale, Mississippi where she graduated from high school. After graduation, Ruth attended Mississippi Valley State University where she obtained her Bachelors of Art Degree. She went on to obtain her master’s degree from the Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. Ruth met and married Dr. Roosevelt Lenard Sr that union they had three sons: Roosevelt Jr. , Reginald and Raphael Lenard. They were married for more tan forty years. Ruth was a school teacher at Leflore County High School in Itta Bena, Mississippi in the beginning of her educational career and a professor in the Physical Education Department at Morris Brown College and Georgia State University for over forty years. She was a proud true educator that was woven into her faith, community, civic and educational communities. Ruth retired from Georgia State University in 2011. She enjoyed traveling, square dancing and spending quality time with her family. She was proceeded in death by her parents: Clem Parker and Augusta Huggins; her son, Reginald Lenard. Surviving and celebrating her life is: a sister, Gloria Jean; two sons: Roosevelt (Jacquline) Lenard of Jacksonville, Florida and Raphael Lenard of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren: Raphael Martin Peteriet, Jamara Tyneck Lenard and Jacquline Ruth Lenard; one very special dedicated love of twenty years, Mr. Willie Jones and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at Divine Mortuary on Friday April 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Ms. Lenard will lie instate from 9:00 AM until hour of service. Interment at Westview Cemetery.
