Born on August 22, 1952 in Washington (St. Landry Perish) Louisiana. Lee was the son of the late Leanna Tanner Franklin and Ernest Motte. Lee had an passion for being a survivor of hard work, entrepreneurship and resilience. From a young age, Lee demonstrated his extraordinary ability to connect with others, offering support, understanding, and an outgoing spirit wherever he went. Lee was a professional Tractor Trailer driver and Entrepreneur until his health began to fail him and limited his abilities to do the things he enjoyed. Lee was passionate about fishing, he had a love for just sitting by the lake all day waiting for his next bite. Lee was known by many where he grew up as ‘Elray’. He became well-known by many in his community and local businesses due to his outgoing personality.
In 1992, Lee married Barbara, and together they made their home in Stone Mountain, Georgia. They remained married for 33 years until his life sadly came to an end on July 26, 2025. Lee became a member of Jehovah Witnesses, to which he had a heartfelt love for his heavenly Father Jehovah and enjoyed reading his bible daily.
Lee was preceded in death by grandparents, Ivy & Willie Tanner (Lebeau, La), his sister Carolyn Robertson and brother in-law, James Robertson. Lee is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Motte of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Bonus dad Leonard Franklin (Pop) his daughters-Gwendolyn Brady (Texas), Melissa Jackson (Texas) and Kimalyn (John) Johnson (South Carolina). His Son-Jonathan (Khayla) Motte. Lee was blessed with a combined total of 9 grandchildren; JoNique, Jarrell, Jalen, Jada, Terriona, Jonathan, Myles, Jamiya, Shalayla and 3 great grands. His sisters, Marquette Franklin Lawrence (Eddie), Karen Franklin, Lora & Sandra Motte, Geneva Lemon, Debra Thomas and Brother Michael Franklin-all from Louisiana. Sister-in-laws; Joyce Scott (GA) Diana Smith (SC), Christina (Eric) Jackson, Debbie Prichard, Sandra Scott (FL). Brother-in-Laws; John (Pauline) Scott (KY) Calvin (Nikki) Scott (FL). One Uncle, Albert Motte (TX). He also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, special cousins, and dear friends who will forever remember his high spirited personality and infectious loud voice, along with his love of family and caring heart.
