It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother Ida Faye Townsend, age 75, of Conyers, Georgia, who left us on August 25, 2024, after a beautifully lived life. She was full of love and laughter, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength.
Born on January 20, 1949, in Natchez, Mississippi. Ida and her twin sister were the eldest of six children, 3 brothers and 2 sisters of Mose Frazier (1916 - 1995) and Nellie Ivory Frazier (1921 - 2014).
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Reed Macduff (d. 2020). Ida and former spouse, Alvin Townsend (m. 1970 - 2004) had two children together, Christopher (d. 2017) and Corey Townsend who they adored.
She attended Sadie V. Thompson high school and furthered her education at Jackson State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in English education.
While attending the university, she met and married her former husband, Alvin Townsend. After graduation of college, she pursued being an English Teacher, starting in Duncan, Mississippi in 1970; moving to Fairbanks, Alaska; Edwards, Mississippi; and Tallulah, Louisiana from 1971 to 1986; and then Richmond, Virginia from 1986 to 2006. After retiring from the education profession, she met and married Reed Macduff, moving to Osoyoos, Canada from 2007 to 2011 and made Conyers, Georgia her home from 2011 to 2024.
Teaching English and preaching the good news was a passion of hers, and she enjoyed helping others. She came into the truth, dedicated her life to Jehovah, and was baptized in 1974. Ida served as a full-time pioneer for many years and remained a faithful servant of Jehovah to her passing.
A great friend, personable and caring with a joyful spirit, she touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a wonderful mother, aunt, and sister always there, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. Ever teaching her children about Jehovah God and Jesus Christ. Ida was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. As her health declined, she often repeated the quote: "Leave it in Jehovah's hands." Her unwavering spirit will forever be remembered.
She is survived by Corey Townsend (wife Jennifer), twin sister Rosemary and sister Delphine along with brothers Randy, Moses, and Troy, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who felt her warmth and generosity, they will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
To commemorate her incredible journey and to celebrate the love she spread, a memorial service will be held in her honor at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 2914 Fairview Rd, Covington, GA 30016 on September 22 at 12:00pm noon. We invite all who knew her to please join us in remembering the life of a truly remarkable woman who was loved deeply and will be immensely missed.
