Mr. Henry William Barnes Jr., entered into eternal rest September 23, 2021. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 4th at 2:00 PM in the Divine Mortuary Chapel. Internment is private.

Henry William Barnes Jr., son of the late Reverend Henry William Barnes Sr. and
Velma Brown Barnes, was born February 2, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Henry attended the following schools: Lincoln Prep, Simon Gratz High School,
Temple University, Tab School, RCA Technical Institute, and was a graduate of
New York University Stern School of Business.

He united in holy matrimony to Irene Wilson on August 2, 1966. This union was
blessed with three daughters, Velma, Veda, and Victoria Barnes Hardman.
He was an active member of Beulah Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie, NY, where
he served faithfully as a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher. He had an extreme
passion for serving the Lord and his local community. He was a co-founder of a
local food pantry in New York and also served on the Admissions and Grants
Board of United Way of the Dutchess-Orange County Region for four years.
Henry worked for computer innovator IBM, where he worked with mainframes
and conducted training classes throughout various locations within the company
and externally at many government agencies. Due to his highly sought-after skill
set, the Pentagon was one of his assignments. He retired as a Systems Test
Engineer from IBM after working there for 30 years.

After retiring from IBM, he chose to begin a career in Real Estate. Henry became
a licensed salesperson and, soon after, a Real Estate broker dba Henry Barnes
Realty in New York. Henry continued his Real Estate business when he and his
wife later moved to Georgia in 2003.

While in Georgia, Henry became an active member of New Birth Missionary
Baptist Church and served in the Fishers of Men Outreach Ministry, Nation of
Jesus Men’s Ministry, and the TV and Media Ministry.

As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was loved by many.
Henry Barnes was known as a man of God, a girl dad, technology enthusiast,
herbalist, and a tea connoisseur. He enjoyed the fine arts, photography, and was
an avid reader with an extensive library. A firm believer in health being wealth,

Henry made health and wellness a priority in his life and loved mentoring others.
He enjoyed racing his cars at Limerock, cycling, rowing, yoga, and practicing
martial art disciplines such as Taekwondo and Tiger’s Claw Kung Fu which he
studied under Sifu Wo Lok in his free time.

Mr. Barnes’ impact will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him.
He transitioned on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Emory Saint Joseph’s
Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, succumbing to a chronic illness at the age of 84.
