Arnold “Eddie” Edwards, also affectionately known as Jimbo, Pops or Grandfather/Fadda to many. Arnold Silvanus Edwards, 89, of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully on October 16th, 2020 at Emory Hillandale Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Arnold is preceded in death by his mother Kathleen Porter and father Joshua Edwards. His children Sherlock and Sherland Edwards as well as his brothers and sisters Joycelyn Joseph, Lucille Jacobs, and Patrick Edwards. Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Sheila Edwards. His children and their spouses: George & Sharon Edwards, Wendel Godfrey & Pamela Edwards, Arleen Alexis Edwards & Milton Bert Adams, Cleveland Edwards, Ricky & Yonette Edwards. 

His Grandchildren: Dawn, Shaka, Deon, Marlon (Osafo), Marvin (Ossie), Fayette, Marcellene (Odetta), Kean, Hasani, Thandi, Jamal, Latoya, Malene, Shomari, Andaya. His Great-Grandchildren: Raheem, Tatiana, Shaniqua, Nashtasha, Malika, Unyque, Monique, Jahsheem, Brittany, Maya, Jernice, Stephanie, Najhee, Gabriella, Mariah, Elijah, Trinity, Jamille, Toni, Madison, Morgan, Jamison, Jahmarion, Deyonie, Kingston jr., Eva, Alexandra, Denecia, Deniel, Kayla, Jazmyn, Carter, Zara, Marquise, Melody. His Great Great-Grandchildren: Kailee and Nyelli. Arnold is also survived by his sisters Iza Rose and Avis Edwards; Nieces and Nephews: Deborah, Yonnette, Mark, Harlan, Alana, Shaun, Ingram, and 23 others.

Arnold was born in Canje Berbice, Guyana as the son and first child to the late Kathleen Porter and Joshua Edwards on February 2nd, 1931. He went to school at Rose Hall Canje. He married the love of his life, Sheila Edwards on June 17th, 1954 in Canje Berbice, Guyana. They spent most of their lives in Guyana. He worked as a bulldozer/ heavy-duty equipment operator for the Guyana Sea Defense Project for 33 years. In 1994, he came to America with his wife, where he lived out the rest of his retirement.

Arnold was always the life of the party or any forum, and was known for his infectious laugh, jokes and relaxed demeanor. His love for his family was always paramount and he was happiest when he was with his family, especially his grandchildren. His voice was lovingly firm when he needed to be and was always frank and genuine with his advice and perspectives.

Arnold had many adoptive daughters, sons, and grandchildren. He never met a stranger, everyone was a friend, and at times he made them family.

Arnold has lived a long and happy life. He was the definition of “living my best life”.

The family of Arnold Edwards wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Emory Hillandale Hospital, Divine Mortuary Services, and all the many friends Eddie has made throughout his life.

A Celebration of the life of Arnold Edwards will be held on Friday, October 30th, 2020 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm ET at Divine Mortuary Services Funeral Home with the Minister Kendrick Meredith of Life Abundantly Church, officiating.
