A Celebration of Life For
CAROLYN HOLLOWAY
One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all
the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple (Psalm 27:4) and so it
was with my beloved sister.
Carolyn (Regina) Holloway was born on October 11, 1951, the second child to Mrs. Earline Holloway Black.
Carolyn was born in Baltimore, Maryland and relocated with her family to Boonton, NJ, at the age of twelve
(12) years old.
Carolyn was a beautiful child, a fashionista, confident, strong willed, very intelligent, overly adventurous as a
social butterfly. Carolyn was educated throughout the Boonton Public School system. At an early age joined
Bethel AME Methodist Church on Plane Street in Boonton, NJ.
Carolyn gave birth to three (3) beautiful children Henry Troy, Shonda and Lessie. They blessed her life
with many fine grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Carolyn had a special love and connection with her only surviving sister Renee' Cunningham who was
her Caregiver and BEST FRIEND.
A friend is one who will stick closer than a brother as it is said, and Carolyn had two life-long friends
Janice Hartshorn Johnson of Florida and Robin Bronner of Pennsylvania.
She was loved by family and many friends, never meeting a stranger. Carolyn had a passionate love for
butterflies. Just as the symbolism of the butterfly “about finding joy in life and lightness of being”. She
had a colorful butterfly tattooed on her left arm. Carolyn traveled the world learning many of life’s lessons.
Maya Angelou said, “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone
through to achieve that beauty”. Carolyn found her joy in the world as she lived as that butterfly; a social
butterfly, all the time transitioning thru life in a cocoon, just as the cycle of the life as a caterpillar
preparing to make a change, to achieving that beauty just as a butterfly.
Just when the caterpillar thought her life was over, she began to fly. God in his infinite wisdom, whispered
ever so sweetly in her ear. “You have fought a good fight, you have kept the faith”, and on Saturday morning,
January 11, 2020, Carolyn laid her hands in God’s hands, as He received her back unto his own and took
her rest.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her life: one son Henry Troy Holloway (Melissa) of Florida; two daughters Shonda
Nicole Hartshorn and Lessie Bianca Holloway of Georgia; one sister Renee’ Cunningham of Florida, a host
of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews and many other relatives and friends who will miss
her dearly. She joins her mother and two brothers who preceded her in death Mrs. Earline Holloway Black,
John Cunningham and Otha Holloway.
A Memorial service is scheduled for Friday, January 17, 2020 at 11:00 am. The Memorial service will be held at the Divine Mortuary Chapel located at 5620 Hillandale Drive, Lithonia Ga 30358.

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God has laid you see
I took His hand when I heard him call
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
So lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now, He set me free.
